What we collect
Hotfix does not require an account and we do not ask for your email address.
If you chooseto submit your score to the online leaderboard, our server sends a small payload: a run identifier, your numeric score, and a display name you enter (or "Anonymous" if left blank). That request is forwarded to a Google Apps Script endpoint and may be stored in Google Sheets so scores can appear on the public leaderboard. You can skip submission entirely and still open the leaderboard page when it is available.
The nickname you type is voluntary and only used as a label on the leaderboard — it is not verified and not treated as proof of identity.
Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage for one setting: whether in-game sound is muted (hotfix-audio-muted). We do not use local storage to track ads or build a marketing profile.
We do not set first-party tracking or advertising cookies on this site in the current version.
Advertising
Hotfix does not embed third-party advertising (for example Google AdSense) in the codebase as shipped today. If that ever changes, this page will be updated.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics on the production deployment (via the @vercel/analytics package and the <Analytics /> component in our root layout). This helps us understand traffic and how pages are used (for example views and navigation). It is not Google Analytics.
Web Analytics must be enabled for the project in the Vercel dashboard; see the Vercel Analytics quickstart for setup. How Vercel handles privacy and compliance for this product is described in Vercel's Web Analytics privacy documentation.
Third-party services
- Vercel — hosting and Vercel Web Analytics when enabled (see Analytics above). Standard server logs may also apply; see Vercel's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts— Next.js loads the Plus Jakarta Sans font from Google; Google's privacy notice applies to that network request.
- Google Apps Script / Sheets — used only when the leaderboard integration is configured in the deployment environment, for optional score storage and publishing leaderboard data.
- Buy Me a Coffee — support links point to buymeacoffee.com. If you leave our site to donate, that service's terms and privacy policy apply there.
Hosting
The site is intended to run on Vercel, which may collect standard technical logs (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps) for reliability and security. We do not use those logs for personalized advertising.
Children
Hotfix is a general-audience game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have received information from a child under 13, please contact us (see below) and we will delete it where required.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do.
